1/21/2020 7:30 AM M 0.2 M 0.4 M There was 0.2 of new snow that had fallen by my observation time. I put the depth of total snow at 0.4 as with continued melting in the past two days there were many areas with no snow remaining however the average of several areas was that amount.

1/26/2020 7:55 AM M 0.2 M 0.2 M Although there didn't seem to be any melting that I noticed, and we did get snow at times yesterday, however the areas of existing snow have the same amount of snow as the new snowfall. I do not understand why, however this is the condition I found this morning at 7:55. The instructions are to record the Total Snow And Ice to the nearest half inch, however because of this unusual situation I'm entering the 0.2 I measured instead of 0.5 (a half inch). I would appreciate whoever checks these reports to change the Total Snow up to 0.5 if that's more appropriate. However I am still mystified by less total snow than yesterday morning with snow at times during the day like I said.

Thanks to the daily message from days ago I reported the T for the traces of snow still on the ground.

1/31/2020 7:30 AM M 0.2 M 0.2 M Finally the Trace remaining the last few days of a very few, very small, areas of snow was replaced by the new snowfall during the night.
2/1/2020 7:55 AM M 0.5 M 0.5 M During yesterday the 0.2 I reported yesterday morning completely melted and dried off of pavements so it was gone by yesterday afternoon. So the snow that started during the night that I am reporting this morning as 0.5 new AND 0.5 total did not add to yesterday but replaced it. Also by my 7:55 a.m. observation time the snow during last night has melted on pavements all over, however has evenly coated the grass everywhere. I happened to go out about 4:00 a.m. to the 7-11 in my area so I do know it had started to coat the sidewalks and driveways in my area of town even though it has melted by now off of them, only remaining on all the grass. So I measured the best I can of what remains on the grass. Hope this is not too many details, however it is usual for a snowfall to melt by my normal observation time and have to be measured from grassy areas.
2/2/2020 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M 0.0 M Between yesterday morning and this morning the 0.5 of snow yesterday has completely melted away from everywhere. We did have some sun at times and warming temperatures staying above freezing. Also finally the last tiny amounts of natural snowfall, that I had reported for a few days as a Trace before yesterday's snowfall occurred, have finally seemed to disappear. Some very tiny very scattered areas near driveways and sidewalks are the only visible remaining, NOT reported as their location looks like shoveling and NOT natural snowfall. I'm thankful for the Daily Message many days ago now giving how to report the Trace that I had for those few days, as before that message I did not really realize about reporting remaining natural snowfall less than 50 percent until it is replaced or finally gone.

And by this morning it did happen that the 0.5 new snowfall yesterday has almost completely melted away on all of the sidewalk and driveway of mine that I did not shovel. The grass still has almost a complete snow cover.

2/12/2020 7:30 AM M 0.0 M 0.5 M Some more melting occurred on grassy areas yesterday, pavements were already dry yesterday and are still dry, so I tried to average the remaining snow on the grassy areas to arrive at the 0.5 amount. I believe an amount of 0.75 would be a better average, however I remember from past experience that 0.75 is not accepted as an Existing Snow amount and 1.0 wouldn't indicate any melting had occurred. There was no new snow whatsoever.

The grassy areas still were almost completely covered before the new snowfall started, although my unshoveled sidewalk and driveway were completely clear before the new snowfall started. So I did average the remaining on the grass with the new snowfall that I measured to get the existing amount to the nearest half-inch.

The front of my home is the south side and the back is the north side. The closest snow of front and back to a half-inch seems to me to be 1.0 that I reported as existing. I do not yet do a snow melt so the 0.30 reported is only the rain from the past 24-hours.

As there are still a few very small patches of existing snow on the grass in back I have reported T for that as per the Message Of The Day from weeks ago.

2/25/2020 7:00 AM 0.20 0.0 M 0.0 M Had some rain yesterday as predicted during the day and evening. Although it did turn cold again during the night no snow from the winter storm predicted has yet come through by my observation time this morning.
2/26/2020 7:55 AM M 0.6 M 0.6 M I measured carefully and the snow from yesterday only measured 0.6 by 7:55 this morning. I realize not every area will get the same amount from the storm and the snowfall over several hours was not necessarily heavy, however I did expect more. The snow does look like maybe it has shrunk in volume, it has a dimpled appearance. However it is evenly distributed on the pavement. I measured on the pavement in two spots and they are exactly the same.
2/27/2020 7:55 AM M T M M M Observed a little snow falling yesterday however it does not seem to have changed the snow depth remaining on the grass. ALL pavement in my area such as my driveway and sidewalk, that I did actually measure on yesterday and did not shovel, were completely free from snow by this morning. So I reported New Snowfall as T because of what I did observe yesterday and Total Snow as NA because there is none remaining on unshoveled pavements to measure. However, if this helps at all, the snow is completely still covering all of the grass in the front and back yards from Tuesday's snow. I do really appreciate the Messages Of The Day from Steve as they help let me know exactly how to measure and report these varied situations.
2/28/2020 7:55 AM M T M M M Sorry for the late entering of this report. I did actually observe at 7:55 a.m. as reported, however things got very busy and I am only reporting now at 3. There were a few very small snow flurries yesterday so I am reporting a T for new snow. The unshoveled pavement was still clear on my property so there was not a measurable amount of new snow. There is still almost all the grass covered in my area however I did not attempt to measure as I think it cannot be measured accurately on the grass. The depth looks not as thick as yesterday possibly because of some melting of the snow on the grass.

Just a suggestion for your judgement as what I saw may have been a freak occurrence instead of actually being significant. The snow that started falling beginning yesterday afternoon began melting on the streets, sidewalks, and driveways and apparently kept melting. It is only accumulated on the grass. So I measured a few spots and all of them were the 3.5 that I reported as snowfall. I am sorry that I do not yet have a snowboard. I am planning for one next season. I am not sure if a snowboard would have accumulated any snow instead of all melting like the paved surfaces did, however hoping next season to have one. I'm sure that will make my measuring a little easier and slightly more accurate. Edited this 3/23 report today 3/24 to include the snow melt that I did yesterday, it was 0.34 as just now reported.

6/11/2020 7:30 AM 0.61 M M M M This observation WAS originally submitted on 6/11 shortly after taking the measurement at 7:30 a.m., however I went back today 6/12 to add these notes and apparently editing the report to add notes completely changes the submitted day and time to when it is edited. I thought this morning 6/12 that maybe I should add the following notes since the 24-hour amounts for 6/10 and 6/11 were coincidentally exactly the same. I did not want it to look like I accidentally put the same amount on 6/11 as 6/10 was. On 6/10 the rain added up to the 0.61 over the previous 24 hours before 7:30. Then a while after that there was a storm with a storm total of 0.60 that I reported as a spotter to the NWS as it was in such a short time. Then sometime after that storm on 6/10 but before 7:30 a. m. on 6/11 there was an additional 0.01 making the 24-hour amount of 0.61 the same as the morning before. I appreciate Hilberg's Tips for instructions and reminders, however it was only yesterday when I saw in the Tips that I should have made a Significant Weather Report of the storm total that occurred on 6/10 and the NWS would have gotten it right away, along with you at CoCoRaHS. As always as a spotter I will be calling the NWS immediately about significant severe weather, however I will in the future make a Significant Weather Report for short-term storm totals or other things those reports cover. Please let Steve Hilberg know how helpful his Tips are. Thanks.

However I just realized now as since I was very busy right after that I had forgotten to make my usual morning report. So I am entering it now for this morning and I am sorry about the delay. Unfortunately that has happened sometimes. And please know that even though I normally enter using the app I always click on the link provided after entering to check the Message Of The Day. It always is good info and I did register the first day I saw it, a few days ago, for the NOAA Weather Radio webinar. NOAA Weather Radio has been absolutely my PRIMARY info and watches and warnings since the 1970s when the tone alarm system was created. It does not get any better than only one link in the chain instead of several, one way from transmitters through the air direct to my radios. NOT subject to ANY connection or power failures of links of ANY other way of receiving warnings.

1/18/2020 1/19/2020 7:00 AM 2 0.63 M M 1/18: My average at 7:00 a.m. of the snow that began yesterday afternoon on through the night is 0.7, difficult to measure as by 7:00 a.m. the rain predicted for this morning had already started and caused a little melting. So I tried to find some areas to average. 1/19: Rain that fell early yesterday was solidly frozen at 7:30 a.m. today, as I expected it would have because of the deep freeze and winds that came through our area as predicted late yesterday into the night. So I brought it inside to melt, intending to check it now at 1:30 p.m. after arriving back home after church. After the rain changed to snow flurries for a short time we received about 0.1 of new snow, however much snow from the previous snow had melted from the rain. So I do not have an accurate existing amount. I did report above the 0.63 of the rain / melted snow

DAILY REPORT 1/25: Pavements over the area completely free from snow by last night because of the rain that was happening late yesterday afternoon into the evening. New snow by my observation time of 7:55 a.m. was 0.2 and the total also 0.2 because of the pavements free from snow by last night. The amount of rain / melted snow measured from my gauge was 0.52 at my 7:55 a.m. observation time. The rain / melted snow amount this time is a multi-day accumulation that includes yesterday's rain. I left the rain / melted snow amount on today's report as NA because it includes a previous day, however the snow as I described was new in the previous 24 hours. I will go ahead and make a multi-day report for the rain / melted snow. I have not yet seen that form and am not sure if it has spaces for my multi-day rain / melted snow value and also a single 24-hour snow on the same form. So I will submit this report as-is for right now and I will go to the multi-day form.
