Some very few flurries observed while walking in the area yesterday so I reported T for new snow. I am sorry I did not re-measure the snow still on the ground so I left NA in that amount. Although there didn't seem to be any melting that I noticed, and we did get snow at times yesterday, however the areas of existing snow have the same amount of snow as the new snowfall. I do not understand why, however this is the condition I found this morning at 7:55. The instructions are to record the Total Snow And Ice to the nearest half inch, however because of this unusual situation I'm entering the 0.2 I measured instead of 0.5 (a half inch). I would appreciate whoever checks these reports to change the Total Snow up to 0.5 if that's more appropriate. However I am still mystified by less total snow than yesterday morning with snow at times during the day like I said. |

During yesterday the 0.2 I reported yesterday morning completely melted and dried off of pavements so it was gone by yesterday afternoon. So the snow that started during the night that I am reporting this morning as 0.5 new AND 0.5 total did not add to yesterday but replaced it. Also by my 7:55 a.m. observation time the snow during last night has melted on pavements all over, however has evenly coated the grass everywhere. I happened to go out about 4:00 a.m. to the 7-11 in my area so I do know it had started to coat the sidewalks and driveways in my area of town even though it has melted by now off of them, only remaining on all the grass. So I measured the best I can of what remains on the grass. Hope this is not too many details, however it is usual for a snowfall to melt by my normal observation time and have to be measured from grassy areas. |

Between yesterday morning and this morning the 0.5 of snow yesterday has completely melted away from everywhere. We did have some sun at times and warming temperatures staying above freezing. Also finally the last tiny amounts of natural snowfall, that I had reported for a few days as a Trace before yesterday's snowfall occurred, have finally seemed to disappear. Some very tiny very scattered areas near driveways and sidewalks are the only visible remaining, NOT reported as their location looks like shoveling and NOT natural snowfall. I'm thankful for the Daily Message many days ago now giving how to report the Trace that I had for those few days, as before that message I did not really realize about reporting remaining natural snowfall less than 50 percent until it is replaced or finally gone. |

Slightly warming temperatures were occuring late yesterday as predicted so I did measure the snow late yesterday, trying to avoid the same situation as several days ago of what had fallen melting by this morning. The grass still has almost a complete snow cover. |

Some more melting occurred on grassy areas yesterday, pavements were already dry yesterday and are still dry, so I tried to average the remaining snow on the grassy areas to arrive at the 0.5 amount. I believe an amount of 0.75 would be a better average, however I remember from past experience that 0.75 is not accepted as an Existing Snow amount and 1.0 wouldn't indicate any melting had occurred. There was no new snow whatsoever. |

Even before yesterday's rain the snow was completely gone from unshoveled pavements in my area however remaining in patches on grassy areas in front and almost completely covering grassy areas in back. The front of my home is the south side and the back is the north side. The closest snow of front and back to a half-inch seems to me to be 1.0 that I reported as existing. I do not yet do a snow melt so the 0.30 reported is only the rain from the past 24-hours. |

The gauge was dry this morning, however when I was out yesterday about 6:00 p.m. there felt like a few scattered drops of rain starting to fall. As there was nothing in the gauge this morning I did not put T for Rain however I wanted to note what I actually observed yesterday. Whoever checks these reports may want to change my 0.00 of Rain to a T if warranted. As there are still a few very small patches of existing snow on the grass in back I have reported T for that as per the Message Of The Day from weeks ago. |

I measured carefully and the snow from yesterday only measured 0.6 by 7:55 this morning. I realize not every area will get the same amount from the storm and the snowfall over several hours was not necessarily heavy, however I did expect more. The snow does look like maybe it has shrunk in volume, it has a dimpled appearance. However it is evenly distributed on the pavement. I measured on the pavement in two spots and they are exactly the same. |

Observed a little snow falling yesterday however it does not seem to have changed the snow depth remaining on the grass. ALL pavement in my area such as my driveway and sidewalk, that I did actually measure on yesterday and did not shovel, were completely free from snow by this morning. So I reported New Snowfall as T because of what I did observe yesterday and Total Snow as NA because there is none remaining on unshoveled pavements to measure. However, if this helps at all, the snow is completely still covering all of the grass in the front and back yards from Tuesday's snow. I do really appreciate the Messages Of The Day from Steve as they help let me know exactly how to measure and report these varied situations. |

Sorry for the late entering of this report. I did actually observe at 7:55 a.m. as reported, however things got very busy and I am only reporting now at 3. There were a few very small snow flurries yesterday so I am reporting a T for new snow. The unshoveled pavement was still clear on my property so there was not a measurable amount of new snow. There is still almost all the grass covered in my area however I did not attempt to measure as I think it cannot be measured accurately on the grass. The depth looks not as thick as yesterday possibly because of some melting of the snow on the grass. |

Once again a few flurries observed yesterday so I did report a T for new snow. Nothing whatsoever accumulated on the ground, however a coating of frost is all over the grass and pavement also. I suggest that since the flurries I did observe yesterday were so very few and so tiny that whoever reviews these notes may want to change my New Snow to 0.0 instead of T. Just a suggestion for your judgement as what I saw may have been a freak occurrence instead of actually being significant. I do report something if I see it like I know we are supposed to, however I very much would appreciate your judgement. |

Snow accumulated on the grass everywhere from yesterday's snowfall, however there was nothing on any pavements anywhere to measure as it all melted on the pavements as it fell. Still no snow on any pavements by this morning so I measured the depth of the snow remaining on the grass as carefully as I could. |

Yesterday there was a very light snowfall in the morning for a few minutes in our area, however there was no accumulation at all from it by the time I returned home in a few hours. And as of my observation this morning there was still no snow visible anywhere in my area and no precipitation, either snow or rain, in my open-top gauge. So I have reported a Trace in New Snow because of what I saw, a 0.0 in Total Snow, and a 0.00 for Rain / Melted Snow. It was windy at times yesterday so that's possibly why the snow didn't accumulate. |

Pavements in my area are all wet without any snow on them. The snow that started falling beginning yesterday afternoon began melting on the streets, sidewalks, and driveways and apparently kept melting. It is only accumulated on the grass. So I measured a few spots and all of them were the 3.5 that I reported as snowfall. I am sorry that I do not yet have a snowboard. I am planning for one next season. I am not sure if a snowboard would have accumulated any snow instead of all melting like the paved surfaces did, however hoping next season to have one. I'm sure that will make my measuring a little easier and slightly more accurate. Edited this 3/23 report today 3/24 to include the snow melt that I did yesterday, it was 0.34 as just now reported. |

Averaging the front and back yards there is less than 50 percent of any snow remaining and that is very thin and in small areas. There was no new snow and pavements still completely clear. So reporting Trace for the Total Snow. |

Yesterday evening about 7 there was a torrential rain for quite a while. My three front downspouts had rain about a half-inch thick coming out during the downpour. The reason I mention this is because sometimes very heavy rains are extremely localized and I wanted to document the conditions in case any other observers in and / or near Park Forest have a noticable variation to me. And as I always do I did shake out the measuring tube yesterday morning after recording the reading, so I know this morning is definitely the last 24 hours and not a multi-day. |

Very very slight dampness in the gauge. When I looked at the NWS radar a few times yesterday evening and night the areas of precipitation looked way far north of here. So it seems that the expected rain had not moved through my area as originally expected. When I say a slight dampness I mean so slight that it looks almost perfectly dry in the gauge. This is a judgement so in reviewing this you may want to change this to 0.00 in case others right near my area had nothing. |

This observation WAS originally submitted on 6/11 shortly after taking the measurement at 7:30 a.m., however I went back today 6/12 to add these notes and apparently editing the report to add notes completely changes the submitted day and time to when it is edited. I thought this morning 6/12 that maybe I should add the following notes since the 24-hour amounts for 6/10 and 6/11 were coincidentally exactly the same. I did not want it to look like I accidentally put the same amount on 6/11 as 6/10 was. On 6/10 the rain added up to the 0.61 over the previous 24 hours before 7:30. Then a while after that there was a storm with a storm total of 0.60 that I reported as a spotter to the NWS as it was in such a short time. Then sometime after that storm on 6/10 but before 7:30 a. m. on 6/11 there was an additional 0.01 making the 24-hour amount of 0.61 the same as the morning before. I appreciate Hilberg's Tips for instructions and reminders, however it was only yesterday when I saw in the Tips that I should have made a Significant Weather Report of the storm total that occurred on 6/10 and the NWS would have gotten it right away, along with you at CoCoRaHS. As always as a spotter I will be calling the NWS immediately about significant severe weather, however I will in the future make a Significant Weather Report for short-term storm totals or other things those reports cover. Please let Steve Hilberg know how helpful his Tips are. Thanks. |

Very slight scattered specks of rain falling at time of checking the gauge. The gauge did have 0.01 at 7:30 as I am reporting. When I mention these specks of rain falling they are way less than I would call even a light drizzle. There was the typical smell of rain in the air and these specks of rain at 7:30 were just barely perceptible as I walked through the yard. |

Sorry about checking so late this morning however that could not be helped. As far as I know there was no rain at all this morning, outside is dry everywhere, so the 0.28 should be actually for the last 24-hours since my 7:30 checking yesterday. I do not know if you can consider it that because of my late checking and reporting today. |

The 0.58 is all from yesterday's storm, nothing at all additional since 7:00 p.m. yesterday until now, as confirmed by it being absolutely still the same amount that I did report yesterday on a Significant Weather Report. I just returned home today shortly before 3:00 p.m. and checked the gauge. I do know that when I checked today is hours after my regular 7:30 a.m., however there is nothing additional after yesterday's storm. So I am hoping in this case it can be a 24-hour single-day instead of having to make a multi-day report. Absolutely no precipitation after yesterday's storm until now and none observed anywhere in my area. |

After checking yesterday I was in a hurry to get to a men's breakfast / Bible study so I saw today I had forgotten to make yesterday's entry. However I did check yesterday, just forgot to enter, so I am entering today for yesterday instead of a multi-day today for two days. |

Completely dry. The storms that were predicted as a low percentage for Northern Illinois passed by north of our area, at least that is what the NWS radar looked like last night. |

A little wet in the bottom of the measuring tube however not enough to be up to 0.01 so I am reporting a Trace. I always carefully shake out the tube so I am sure it was not left after taking yesterday's measurement. |

There is a little wetness in the bottom of the measuring tube this morning however way less than a hundreth of an inch. So I am reporting a Trace. I always carefully shake out the tube after measuring each morning. Normally it is dry when there has been no precipitation so I am sure there must have been some trace amount in the previous 24 hours, however this does surprise me a little this time as I was out yesterday a few times however observed nothing like sometimes I do. You meteorologists probably know traces can happen for whatever reasons so of course reporting a Trace is included as possible. However for me as an amateur it is surprising but I am seeing it happen at times. |

Predicted thunderstorms began passing through my area a while before I checked my gauge. The 0.17 I measured at 7:55 a m. is possibly but not positively a storm total. The outside pavement did look dry at 6:00 although I did not check the gauge until 7:55 a.m. after there was a lull. There are more waves of storms passing through now at 8:25. |

The gauge definitely had less than a hundreth of an inch however did have a trace of rain this morning. So am reporting the trace. Sorry that I did not report right away after checking, did get busy with yardwork outside before coming in to my phone. The thunderstorms yesterday passed far south of our area. |

The wetness in the bottom of the measuring tube is about half of one-hundreth of an inch so I am reporting it as a trace. It would have had to be about twice as much to be up to the line for an actual 0.01 of rain. |

This morning there was absolutely nothing in the measuring tube. Yesterday I did see on the NWS radar that there were areas of rain a distance from my area however they never moved through. I usually make these kinds of notes when there is a good chance of rain predicted however it does not arrive at my location. |

I was away most of the day and I am sorry I did not check the gauge way earlier. As completely dry as it is I am positive that it would have been dry in the morning. And also I did not see even a trace of precipitation during the day or evening yesterday like I usually would have if there had been any at all. |

The predicted storms did seem to finally form far east of my location, so then finally the slight rain that apparently arrived to leave the 0.01 in my gauge was not the storms originally expected. |

The gauge was absolutely dry at 7:30 a.m. that is my usual checking time, however I realized that I had entered the reporting time as the observation time. So I have corrected that. Sorry about the late report however sometimes I am very busy after checking. I am sorry as I know that the reports are expected in between 6 and 8 a.m. to be useful for the day. |

I did look this morning at my usual 7:30 a.m. time, sometimes has been 7:55 a.m., and it was completely dry not even a trace. However I just realized now as since I was very busy right after that I had forgotten to make my usual morning report. So I am entering it now for this morning and I am sorry about the delay. Unfortunately that has happened sometimes. And please know that even though I normally enter using the app I always click on the link provided after entering to check the Message Of The Day. It always is good info and I did register the first day I saw it, a few days ago, for the NOAA Weather Radio webinar. NOAA Weather Radio has been absolutely my PRIMARY info and watches and warnings since the 1970s when the tone alarm system was created. It does not get any better than only one link in the chain instead of several, one way from transmitters through the air direct to my radios. NOT subject to ANY connection or power failures of links of ANY other way of receiving warnings. |
