A beautiful day with a high of 79* until around 6 p.m. when clouds moved in. About 7 p.m. a strong storm went just south of us. I had a wind gust at 37 mph at rooftop level but was much higher looking at neighbor's trees really swaying. A report of 67 mph was caught at Kentland (Newton CO) airport and a TVS sig was seen in this cell south of here. Quite the change here this morning with a temp of 39*. Sunshine now but clouds will move in later. Stay safe and well!! |

I thought WE had a lot of rain. Our total for the day was 3.24. Kentland (Newton) had 5-7 inches of rain. Whole town is flooded. US 24 is closed for a 20-mile stretch. I watched it on radar. Talk about training! And there was a cluster of cells that parked itself right on top of Newton/Benton counties. Holy rainfall! Oh and don't forget the 90+ temp and humidity in the 70s. Goodland, in Newton Co also had wind damage from pre-dawn storms.

Wow, We had a svr warned storm come through around 1:30-2:00. I had a gust at 39 mph and that was at rooftop level! Wind was wicked, large limbs down, parts of trees, my flower pots blew off the porch as did a cushion in my rocker that was NEAR the front door, not in the open. Neighbors lost part of a tree, heard there are many large limbs down around town as well as in Wolcott (White Co). That wind had to be at least 50 mph in town, and higher in the country. It as svr warned as it approached and had been tor warned just west of us in IL as it came in. Temp went down to 69* and we had at least .75 inch. That's what fell into the gauge, not sure how much blew over the top! Temp dropped to 69*. This morning is cloudy with 70*.

Hot and humid day with little to no breeze set us up for a very damaging derecho which rolled in about 5:30 p.m. Wow! I had a gust at 50 mph and that was just above roof level. I've not seen trees bend and twist like yesterday! Lots of tree damage around town, one fell on roof of our primary school, causing damage to classrooms. First storm came at 4:00A.M. leaving .69 inch rain, rest was in afternoon storms. I had flower pots blown over, patio table with a heavy glass top rolled over, thankfully nothing to the house. |
