11/12/2019 5:30 AM 0.82 8.0 0.82 8.0 0.82 I reported last night when I got home from school and there was 7 inches on the ground, melting at around .50. this morning, I went out again and we had more snow from the time I measured last night and it measured 8 inches and melted to .82. The snow was very heavy last night, full of moisture. My back sure feels it this morning. There was also some ice underneath everything on the roads and in the yard, there was a layer of melted snow, very mushy. Looks beautiful, but not expected this early. Reminds me of a mid-January morning when you look out over the school parking lot. We did not cancel school yesterday, the storm hit as the buses were out and picking up students, came in more slowly than was anticipated. We did at the high school go home early, but only by a 1/2 hour. There were many cars on the side of the road yesterday am and pm and the ride home was a bit of a white knuckle event. We are back at school this morning although the roads are not in the best of shape, that ice again, the first layer from yesterday, still making it slow going.

Very pleasant and mild and sunny! We had a high of 52 yesterday and it was very nice. Wonder what January has in store for us, could it be the calm before the storm. When I look back at January 2014, we had quite a January and our school Christmas break was extended by two days! Then we had two more days of from school. Hummmmmm, we shall see. I will enjoy our gift of balmy weather right now.

Between the two, plus some periods of rain throughout thecday, we ended up with over an inch of rain, 1.09 inches is what I tecorded from the rain gauge this morning. We had some wind both times, leaves and dmall branches down around here, but bigger branches and wires down in other parts of the county. It is so nice and cool now, temps in the 60s snd no humidity or dew point that makes us so uncomfortable.
