Hurricane Isaias -- arrived during the night as a category 1 storm. We had a couple of heavy cells during day yesterday with significant rain in short time - 10:07AM .32 in 15 mins. Another .20 mid afternoon. The rain started at 6PM and then never let up until early this morning. It started as a light rain, then winds picked up at 1AM. Lights started flickering, but we kept power. Woke up to sunshine. Yard full of leaves and pine cones - several of the cones still green. Small branches. |

3:00PM yesterday -- Skies started getting buildup of clouds and horizons all directions started looking suspect for storms. Light rain shower -- at 5:09PM, my husband saw white flash of light in backyard of neighbor across the street and 2 houses down. Simultaneously, a BOOM --- our house shook -- it was loudest thunder I ever heard!! It turned out that the lightning affected several houses next street over. Four firetrucks were there. One woman was on her porch swing and felt a tingle in her month right before the strike. |

More rumbles of thunder at 6:51 and 7:11. Light rain continued until just before 8PM. Could see stars at 8PM. As far as I know, that was the end of the rain unless it rained over night. It was cloudy at 10PM and lights out at 2AM. Unable to check gauge until this morning as this is peak time for copperheads and not advisable to walk after dark.

Sheets of rain between 8AM and 11AM from Hurricane Sally out bands -- in 3 hours 1 inch Significant Weather Report also entered Between 11AM and 4PM - another .83 and yard was then saturated where you sink into it. More intermittent rain producing .92. It was light rain at collection time!!
