Three days of mixed bag semi-winter weather have finally given way to a sunny morning. Pa Old total is 0.81". I didn't empty the other gauges until this AM (but won't bother to weigh them). Pa New says storm total is 0.82", OB says 0.79".
The last bucket tip was at 1610. but we finished with a little frozen precip. Temperature traces suggest 1630 is a good time. The maximum rainfall in an hour was 0.02", and nothing is worth reporting as heaviest. |

Unremarkable weather from a tropical storm that never had a chance to pick up a big load of moisture, at least from this point of view. The storm is looking more like a nor'easter with a warm front across Massachusetts than a tropical system.
So far, most of the rain has fallen in a couple periods, one just after 0100, the other around 0430. |

Several cells missed me yesterday PM but one hit between 1710 and 1800 with about 0.3" rain. A much more impressive cell came through this morning from 0600 to 0650 with just a trace after that to the present time.
Good lightning, torrential rain, (7"/h for a moment according to Davis VP, 0.45" in 10 minutes), and 1/4" size hail. Well worth getting up for! |

A couple of showers, early afternoon and late afternoon. The latter had a couple close lightning strikes that seems to have left my WiFi router confused. A brief shower sometime yesterday (I was here, but I forget when!) produced no tips until dew helped this morning. The rain gauge, which doesn't look like dew moved, measured 1.29 grams of precip, so I'm rounding up to 0.01". From the temperature plot, there was narrow 7F drop in air temp and a rise in dew point just before 1400, I'm confident that's when the rain was. Much ado about nearly nothing! |

I was a bit surprised by a morning rain that brought some 0.14" of rain over an hour. I was even more surprised to hear rain around 2300 that brought another 0.01" (or at least enough for a final bucket tip on the Davis VP.) The NWS point forecast had a 2% chance of precip then, and I think about 2% of the region got a shower. |

I saw heat lightning around 2200 while looking for Perseids and later found a squall line in western VT. It weakened over the next half hour and eventually reach here with just a few sprinkles and a few drops of water in the rain gauges. |

Despite the local area being on the edge a severe drought region, we're a lot better off than moderate drought tag earlier in the year in May or June.
