At 7:49 pm we were hit by a violent storm from the NW that dropped .94 of rain in 22 minutes with serious flooding that happened very quickly. We had 60-80 lightning strikes, many cloud to ground, with high winds. Our ground was so hard and dry from so little rain this year that the water quickly caused flooding of arroyos and roads. Even our backyard and our driveway were under water for a time. We received no warnings from the wx service at all. Is it possible this storm was not visible on radar? The prediction was 40% chance of precipitation. This was the most violent storm we have ever seen in 20 years here. |

After four weeks with not even a drop of rain, I can finally report a trace of rain. It was really trace, but it cooled the air and blew away some of the smoke. |

After thirty days with no rain, we had .02. It did nothing for the soil, plants or animals in terms of needed moisture, but it cooled the air very pleasantly and removed a lot of smoke. |

After 40 hot, dry, windy days without wetting precipitation, it rained. It began around 5:30 from the west, with a 20% chance of precipitation and no lightning. The rain fell very intensely for a short time and the temperature dropped 22°F. It was very hot before the storm. Extremely grateful and blessed. |

Very thick smoke arrived suddenly at about 5 pm with under 3 miles visibility. We had to do our outside chores in smoke masks. It was also very hot, single digit RH and windy. Did I mention how dry it is, too? |
