2/27/2020 7:30 AM M 3.0 M 3.0 M Low pressure brought heavy rain to area late in the day yesterday followed by a quick transition to snow on its back side. 3" overnight. The low will stall over Quebec and provide a long-lasting LE event for the area for several days. Erie is 96% open. In addition, W-NW winds will gust to 55 mph. All of the above has prompted the issuance of a Blizzard Warning for S. Erie, Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties until 4 pm tomorrow (Friday) Snowfall totals by late early Sunday are forecast to reach 1-2+ feet off Erie and up to 4 feet off Lake Ontario.I have been a weather spotter for the NWS since 1992 and I do not ever recall a blizzard warning ever being issued for our area so this quite the weather-related event for us.
