at 1:44p yesterday, a cat came in with a damp back ... looked out and there was a light, misty drizzle. About 10:30 p, the dog cam in with a wet back ... so still light misty rain.looks like a light fog out at 6a ... given a cat cam in with a damp back, it may be a light drizzle .... doesn't seem "thick" enough of a fog to make things 'wet'. So can't really say which it is. |

I do not feel well and it is slipepry to get to the guage and for measurement. It looked to be 1/2 to 1/2-inch of snow plus ice from the rain and cold. The wind is blowing the snow around so much anyway, it's hard to get an accurate measurement. First ever with no measurement. The temp was 29.2 at 6:28a; 28.4 at 7:18a; 27.9 at 7:59a; 27.4 at 8:25a; 27.2 at 10:22a; 26.3 at 10:50a and 12:10p; 25.9 at 12:51p and 25.2 at 12:57p .... hope that is helpful |

I've done this for years .... sad O went out after returning home from doctor appt. and while it was still somewhat slippery, I could get the guage and there was 0.24-inch slushy precip in it. that was over the two days of rain/sleet/ice/snow ..,. can't do a multi-day total as I've already done the NA for those two days. Rain snow mix... at 10:20a it began to snow, big, fat flakes, and I measured 1/4-in [0.03]at 11:20a ... it had slacked off before I measured it. There was flurries after but not heavy and the snowflakes got smaller and smaller. It was a really weird weather day yesterday .... spells of damp air, spells of rain, then sleet, then snow .... sometimes tiny flakes, other times big, fat ones ... and the wind blowing any and all sideways. 9:50a began the rain/snow mix that went on and off all day. The air felt moist even if not doing any of those. There was never enough snow at any one time to accumulate. A nasty day to have to be out in it. The days temp was 45.0 at 7:01a and slide downwards to 32.0 at 3:21p and was 27.7 at 7:44a this morning. At least we have sun today but it's only 34.9 at 12:25p today |

I'm sure we had more given the wind and hail and such. NOAA went off about 1 am about tornado watch 36 and a severe thunderstorm warning for the Nashville area. At 2 am here, the thunders began; at 3:08 am was round 3 with the dime-size hail. It was coming down so hard it was bouncing off the pavement and hitting the covered porch storm door 8-ft in. It also began to cover and then stopped. 3:50 am more thunders and flashes such they set off the solar lights I have set to go off when an animal wants in so I don't have to leave the porch light on and draw bugs. Somewhere between 4 and 5 am NOAA stopped and I managed to get some sleep until 6:31 am when the cat bounced on me to let her out. I got very little sleep before that. The power went off sometime around 2 am and didn't come back on until about 9:45 am after I had managed to pull up the double-car garagfe door, back the car out and close it ....THEN the power comes back on. I called and was told there was a snapped pole and trees down but the office could not tell me where. We haven't had a hail storm in years. |

the winds were horrendous and still are this morning. I have 2x4 box storm window covers I made for the screen porch and they are over 5ft hi [I'm 5-ft and they are taller than I am] and 3-ft wide and I'd taken them down and stood them on the back porch .... I heard all these weird noises and thought an animal was in the basement of something and it was the winds blowing those 'boxes' around and blowing the smaller ones from up to down and moving them around on the porch ..... thunders and lots of rain. 6:33p, still at 7:55 and 8:01p and didn't note times any more. Lots of lights flickering, lost my internet ... not satellite, WiFi and such. Just looking from inside, branches and tree parts but no major damage I can see. Too blustery and drizzly to go out right now. Need to check the wind turbines and ensure they are still OK. |
