Skies are clear at observation, except for a few wisps of cirrus and a ribbon of fog over the still-warm Rappahannock River, just to the south. 10/21/2019 7:00 AM 1.63 M M M M On Oct. 20, heavy rain and breezy conditions during the morning hours turned to wind-driven drizzle in the afternoon and evening. Rain, associated with the remnants of T.S. Nestor, ended by 9 pm, but skies remained cloudy overnight. Event-total rainfall was 1.91" and the 5-day sum climbed to 3.65", helping to moisten previously dry soils. Temperatures remained in the 50s on October 20, peaking at 58°F. The current (and low) temperature is 54°F, with a cool, northerly breeze.

Generally light rain fell during the mid-day and afternoon hours on August 31, followed by some heavy rain overnight, especially from 3 to 4 am. Rainfall at VA-SF-5 has totaled 11.35" over the last 31 observation periods (August) and 17.04" in the last 6 weeks (42 observation periods).

The overnight low was a chilly 49°F.
