None of yesterday morning's snow was left on the snow board. A mere .2 from overnight. Looking at places along the drive, it seems we received around 2 inches total (including yesterday's observation). ("Comments" is the only place I'm recording this.) I've been crashing around away from the buildings, listening to the coyotes, trying to get a reasonable report for Total Snow and Ice. I know it's not Monday, but I figure it's better than nothing. This snow has been on the ground for many weeks, adding just a little here and there. In any case, I measured 30 areas and found 8 to 10 inches pretty consistently. Mostly depth hoar with a little icy crust and new powder. I took cores from two 9" places. One was 1.90; one was 1.92. I regret I haven't been doing better at Total cores. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. It's a lovely, quiet, calm morning at 26 degrees F. |

Drifts and undulations of snow abound, so, for Total Snow, I chose to take my core where I usually do. Very close to my gauge. 8.5", but snow is much deeper and shallower everywhere else. I don't have a sense of what average may be. I do know the snow settled all afternoon, consolidating into heavy, wet shtuff. Living up on a bench above live water, I think this will make for a gorgeous spring. |

We had fairly sustained winds of 20-25 mph and I went out to wander around and enjoy the fall in temperature and getting blown around a bit. Saw there was still rain potential coming in from the west. And it did start to rain at 1825 . Not just sprinkles. But not enough to measure. Highest gust was 39.8 mph. I'll keep hoping the monsoons will come to the Southwest and we'll get a little honest moisture. |

We had a minute of rain at 1538, then some gusty wind. 2 minutes of rain at 1550 with more wind. I checked the anemometer at 1610 and the highest gust had been 32.9 mph. I cleared the history and, some time early evening, (1930-ish?), we had another short bout of wind. No precip. Highest gust then was 32.4 mph. |

Late report, but we had no power, water or internet. 1640 sprinkles, soon went to rain. 1900, with bits of sleet coming down, emptied rain gauge and pulled off/out the funnel cap and rain tube. (.09 including the slush on the cap.) Big rolling thunder at this time which continued until well after 1915 when it began to honestly snow. (no sleet, no rain at that point.) Power went off at 2320. |
